The school day starts at 9.00am and ends at 3.30pm for all children from Reception (F2) to Year 6.
Parents who wish their child to attend Nursery (F1) at our school can choose from two and a half days at the beginning or end of the week.
Time spent on teaching each day, excluding registration periods, assemblies and break times, is 4 hours 15 minutes in Key Stage 1 and 4 hours 40 minutes in Key Stage 2. This is in line with statutory requirements.
(Key Stage 1 refers to the time between a child’s reaching the statutory school age of 5 years and the end of Year 2 , during which the children reach the age of 7. Key Stage 2 refers to the Years 3 to 6 inclusive.)
School opens at 8.55am.
Children should arrive in the playground no earlier than 5 or 10 minutes before the bell is rung as there is no supervision before this time.
Children are taken into Foundation 1 by their parents/carers. By the summer term of their Foundation 2 (Reception class) year we encourage the children to become more independent and come into school by themselves.
Children are electronically registered by their teacher promptly when they enter the classroom. It is important that teachers settle their classes quickly, without interruption at the beginning of the day. Any urgent matter which needs to be brought to the attention of the teacher should be reported to the school office. Otherwise an appointment may be made to see the teacher after school.
If a child arrives late s/he should go, or be taken, to the Office so that they can ensure the child is registered.
